Do you provide therapy?
Our practice focuses on medication management with integrated therapeutic support during appointments. While we incorporate brief supportive techniques into sessions, this isn’t a replacement for dedicated psychotherapy. We typically recommend that patients also work with a therapist for comprehensive mental health care.
Do I need to see a therapist separately?
It’s not required, but we do recommend it for most patients. If you already have a therapist, we’re glad to work alongside them. If you don’t, we can provide referrals to help you find the right fit. The therapeutic support we provide during medication visits complements—but doesn’t replace—regular therapy.
Will you work with my other healthcare providers?
Absolutely. Coordinated care leads to better outcomes, and we’re always willing to communicate with your other providers (with your permission, of course). This includes therapists, primary care doctors, and any other specialists involved in your care.
What is your approach to controlled substances?
We prescribe controlled medications when clinically appropriate, but we take a careful, thoughtful approach. We don’t prescribe benzodiazepines for daily use. For stimulants and other controlled substances, we require a treatment agreement. These medications can be valuable tools when used safely, and open communication is essential.
How do I get prescription refills?
Send refill requests to the administrative contact provided during your intake process. You’ll receive this information when you first join the practice.
What's the best way to reach you between visits?
For non-urgent questions or concerns, email or call the administrative contact provided during your intake. We typically respond within two business days.
Do you offer genetic testing?
Yes, we offer genetic testing when it would be clinically useful. This genetic test can help us understand how your body processes certain psychiatric medications. It’s optional, and we’ll discuss whether it’s right for your situation.
Can you do ADHD testing?
We can diagnose and treat ADHD based on clinical evaluation—formal testing isn’t always necessary. If your insurance requires testing or if we need additional diagnostic clarity, we’ll refer you to appropriate testing resources.
What age groups do you treat?
We work with patients 16 and older. For younger adolescents or complex pediatric cases, we may refer you to a provider who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry.
What should I do in a crisis?
We are not available for after-hours calls or emergencies. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest ER. For urgent mental health support outside of emergencies, check our Resources page for crisis hotlines and local options available 24/7.
Do you accept insurance?
We’re in-network with several insurance plans. Before your first appointment, contact your insurance company directly to verify your mental health benefits. Important questions to ask:
- What mental health services does my plan cover?
- What’s my copay or coinsurance for psychiatric visits?
- Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?
- What’s my coverage for out-of-network providers?
